Hitting the horror genre with a humorous bang with last year’s Scare Me, writer/director/actor Josh Ruben has returned with another horror/comedy hybrid, Werewolves Within. An adaptation of the Ubisoft video game of the same name, the film takes an Agatha Christie meets Amblin-like approach, giving its viewers a comical and downright entertaining ride, as a small community pulls themselves apart, trying to figure out which one of them is a murderious werewolf. Led by an excellent cast (Sam Richardson, Milana Vayntrub and many others), a great script by Mishna Wolff and razor sharp direction by Ruben, Werewolves Within is quite possible the most fun you can have this year, showing how much of a director to watch Ruben truly is.
We thought we’d hop on Zoom with Ruben to chat all things Werewolves Within and to ask the ongoing question of WHEN IS RUBEN GOING TO BE HIRED TO REMAKE DARKMAN?!! Enjoy!
After a proposed pipeline creates divisions within the small town of Beaverfield, and a snowstorm traps its residents together inside the local inn, newly arrived forest ranger FINN (Sam Richardson) and postal worker CECILY (Milana Vayntrub) must try to keep the peace and uncover the truth behind a mysterious creature that has begun terrorizing the community.
Werewolves Within is now available in theaters and on VOD via IFC Films.
