We have just learned via Deadline that Ashley Judd will be joining the upcoming third season of Twin Peaks. Also, David Lynch is expected to reprise his role as Gordon Cole and series co-creator Mark Frost and Frost’s 90-year old father will also reportedly be making cameo appearances.
Ashley Judd will join new cast members Robert Knepper, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Balthazar Getty, Amanda Seyfried, Naomi Watts, Laura Dern, James Belushi, Tom Sizemore, Grant Goodeve, Larry Clarke, and Caleb Landry Jones.
Kyle MacLachlan will be returning as Agent Cooper, along with the likes of Sheryl Lee, Sherilyn Fenn, Mädchen Amick, Dana Ashbrook, Michael Horse, Miguel Ferrer, Ray Wise, Peggy Lipton, Grace Zabriskie, and Everett McGill.
As we mentioned previously, David Lynch is on board to direct all eighteen episodes of the series’ long awaited third season. The show is lensing in Snoqualmie, WA and North Bend, WA. The series is slated for a limited run beginning in early 2017. The premiere is expected to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the series’ original bow on ABC.
Twin Peaks followed the exploits of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who was sent to the logging town of Twin Peaks to investigate the murder of Laura Palmer. The show lasted for two seasons and developed a massive cult following. Since it was cancelled prior to the the storyline being completed, a movie, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me was released in 1992.
