We have just learned that Beetlejuice alum Geena Davis will be joining the rapidly expanding cast of The Exorcist small screen reboot at Fox.
Per Deadline: “Davis will play Agela Rance. Naturally beautiful, regal and proud but weighed down by stress, Angela does everything she can to stay positive and keep her faith even though her family is currently struggling. She can’t help but think, however, if perhaps her nightmares about a demon are a sign of what’s wrong.”
Davis will join previously announced cast members Kurt Egyiawan, Hannah Kasulka, Brianne Howey, Alfonso Herrera, and Ben Daniels.
From what we’ve gathered, Brianne Howey will be playing the character that becomes possessed. The pilot was written by Jeremy Slater (The Lazarus Effect). Rupert Wyatt will be assuming directorial duties on the first episode. The show is being described as “a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession and confronting the face of true evil.”
No word at this point on when the show will commence principal photography or when we can expect it to make its debut on television. However, it seems to be gaining an awful lot of steam as of late. So, stay tuned for more news on this small screen adaptation and all of the latest horror news as it is relayed to us!
