Flatliners Remake Dated for 2017 Release

Flatliners Remake

Wicked Horror has just learned that the upcoming redux of the 1990 feature film Flatliners has landed a 2017 US release date. Head past the break for the full announcement!

Sony Pictures will be releasing the picture in theaters August 18, 2017. As we recently announced, Kiefer Sutherland, who starred in the original, will be making an appearance in the upcoming redux. He will appear alongside Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton and Kiersey Clemens.

A remake of Joel Schumacher’s Flatliners has long been discussed but little movement has been made on actually getting the project off the ground. Until recently, that is.

Niels Arden Oplev (Mr. Robot) will helm with Ben Ripley (Source Code) assuming screenwriting duties. The project is expected to commence production this Summer.

Flatliners follows a group of medical students who conduct a series of experiments where they intentionally flatline for a short time, only to be resuscitated by their cohorts, moments later. But, predictably, things don’t go as planned and the aspiring physicians get more than they bargained for.
