We have a brand new teaser image and news regarding a potential subtitle for Goosebumps 2! The news comes courtesy of the latest issue of License Global Magazine. Judging by what we are assuming is the subtitle for the second film, it appears that the next installment will riff on one of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps spinoff series. And we gather that it will be titled Goosebumps: Horrorland.
As we previously reported, Sony has delayed the release of the upcoming Goosebumps sequel. The project was initially slated for release January 26, 2018 but is now targeting a September 21, 2018 theatrical bow.
What we know this far is that director Rob Letterman (who helmed the first film) will be returning to direct the sequel. Screenwriter Darren Lemke will be back to pen the script and Deborah Forte and Neal H. Moritz will also be returning as producers. Jack Black (who played R.L. Stine in the first film) is expected to reprise his role. No word at this juncture on whether any of the teenage cast members will be returning for the follow up effort. In addition to Black, the original film starred Halston Sage and Dylan Minnette.
It was an 18-year journey to get the first film to the screen. But, fortunately, the moderate success of the first feature has ensured we won’t have to wait another 18-years for a sequel.
The first installment in the Goosebumps film series sees a boy named Zach and his mother relocating to a small town. While Zach initially misses city life, things start to look up when he meets next door neighbor Hannah. When Zach opens a manuscript in Hannah’s home, he inadvertently unleashes all of the monster’s from Hannah’s father’s books. The pair must then work in concert with her father (R.L. Stine) to put the author’s creations back in their books before they destroy their town and the world.
