Found Footage Critic broke the news about both developments. The outlet is reporting that there will be additional footage and restored scenes in the forthcoming director’s cut. Director Stephen Cognetti revealed to FFC that because he wasn’t able to tell the entire story in the first film, he is eager to get to work on a sequel that will allow him to fully finish what he started. He revealed that what happened to Alex and the crew in the film is just a small part of a larger series of events. In fact, the story is so big that Cognetti would actually like to turn the property into a trilogy. As for the second chapter, the director is targeting a Spring 2018 release.
