We have been reporting on Jeepers Creepers 3 on Wicked Horror since the site’s inception and today brings another major announcement. After years and years of roadblocks and false starts, Victor Salva has finally found a way to make a threequel a reality. Salva will be returning to write and direct and actors Jonathan Breck (The Creeper) and Brandon Smith (Sergeant Tubbs) will also be returning.
The latest installment sees Tubbs joining forces with a task force intent upon destroying The Creeper for once and for all. Naturally, chaos ensues and nothing goes according to plan.
“Writing and directing a new ‘Jeepers’ film, the first in over a decade, is incredibly exciting for me and I believe for ‘Jeepers’ fans all over the world that have been asking for more,” explains Salva. “What will go before cameras as Jeepers Creepers 3 is a new and terrifying chapter from the Jeepers universe. We are bringing back the Creeper’s truck, and will be addressing the big questions about The Creeper: what it is, where it came from and why it does what it does.”
From the sound of it, Jeepers Creepers: Cathedral with Gina Phillips is off the table but I am nonetheless happy to see another installment in the franchise finally getting off the ground. Jeepers Creepers 3 will be heading into production in Vancouver BC in Q1 2016.
Francis Ford Coppola (who produced the first two) has signed on to co-produce the threequel with Odyssey Media, and The Cartel. Kirk D’Amico has come aboard to executive produce.
It’s surprising that this has not happened sooner, as the previous two films collectively grossed over $120 million at the global box office. Stay tuned for more on this title as it is announced!
