Leatherface Secures MPAA Rating!

Leatherface Adam Brandejs is the making of the Ed Gein looking

Wicked Horror has just learned that the long-awaited slasher prequel Leatherface has finally been put before the MPAA and secured a classification. This is good news for those looking forward to the film and definitely progress, considering we’re still awaiting a release date for the picture. As it stands, the flick scored an R-rating for “strong bloody violence, disturbing images, language and some sexuality/nudity.

In an interview with BD, Leatherface directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo revealed that the film has secured US distribution via LionsGate, the same studio that distributed Texas Chainsaw. They also offered a brief description as to what we can expect from the film, calling it “a brutal and nihilistic road movie that we hope will surprise and delight the fans…”

Lili Taylor, James Bloor Sam Strike, Stephen Dorff, and Angela Bettis star in the upcoming prequel, which will follow Leatherface as a young man.

The script was penned by Seth M. Sherwood. The film is expected to see release later this year but as I mentioned earlier, an exact release date has not yet been announced. Stay tuned to the site in the coming months for more on this and the latest in horror news as it breaks!
