MTV has announced that they will be starting fresh with a new cast of characters for the third season of Scream: The TV Series. Among the new creative team will be rapper turned actress Queen Latifah, who is joining the series as an executive producer. Shakim Compere and Yaneley Arty will also be on board as executive producers under The Queen’s Flavor Unit Entertainment. Brett Matthews (The Vampire Diaries) will serve as the series new showrunner.
According to THR, the network plans to focus on a ‘less white’ story this time around. In addition to an entirely new cast, the third season will take place in a brand new locale. Unlike the first two outings, the third season will consist of only six episodes.
No word on just where season three will take the storyline but we do know that the network plans to ‘put a new spin on a proved concept that has not been embraced on the small screen’.
The first two seasons of the program followed a group of high school students who were being targeted by an unknown killer. The cast included Willa Fitzgerald (Alpha House), John Karna, Bex Taylor-Klaus (The Killing), Connor Weil (Sharknado), Carlson Young, Julian Man, and Amadeus Serafini.
No word yet on when season three will premiere on the cable network. But stay tuned to the site in the coming months for more on this project as we learn it.
