McLoughlin did not indicate to what capacity he would be involved with the remake but the fact that he is on board is a great sign. This is a film that could definitely be improved upon, as time has not been terribly kind to it. But it’s a great concept and one of my favorite early ’80s zombie-esque films. The telekinesis angle puts a fascinating spin on this story of the undead.
It would be great to see McLoughlin stay on to produce and maybe even cowrite, while turning the reigns over to an up-and-coming director. No word at this juncture on what we can expect from the Blu-ray release but stay tuned to the site and we will keep you in the loop as we learn more!
In addition to directing the original, McLoughlin also cowrote the screenplay. The firm stars Meg Tilly, Robin Evans, Leslie Speights, and Adam West.
