Sinister 2 Dated for a 2016 Home Video Release

Sinister II The movie poster for the movie Sinister directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Ethan Hawke. reviewed by nicola odeku - sinister 2

Sinister 2 has been officially dated for home video release. Head inside for details on when you can pick up your copy (if you are into doing so).

Sinister 2 is slated to hit DVD and Blu-ray on January 12, 2016. You can check out our review here. We don’t have specifics as to what special features will be included or what the cover art will feature but we’re expecting a press release with that info in the not-so-distant future. So, stay tuned!

Sinister 2 made its way to theaters this past summer where it grossed a fairly disappointing $27.8 Million. It’s predecessor brought in nearly $50 Million. If I had to hazard a guess, I would say that we probably will not see a third installment in this series. Not only was the return substantially less than the original, the fan response was less than enthusiastic.

Sinister 2 stars Shannyn Sossamon (Wayward Pines) and James Ransone (Sinister). Sossamon plays a mother of twin nine year old boys that moves into the home recently vacated by the Oswalt family from the previous film. Ransone reprises his role as a deputy sheriff. Like the original, the upcoming sequel will be produced by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions.

Sinister 2 is helmed by Ciaran Foy who previously directed the horror film Citadel. Scott Derrickson, who co-wrote and directed the first film has penned the screenplay for the sequel with C. Robert Cargill, with whom he scripted the original Sinister film. Derrickson is also serving as a producer on the upcoming sequel.
