Stranger Things Adds Several New Names to Season Two Cast

Stranger Things Netflix Horror

Netflix Original series Stranger Things has added several recognizable names to the casting roster for season two.

The streaming service has cast newcomer Linnea Berthelsen as Roman. According to Netflix, she will play “an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab…”

Sean Astin (The Goonies) is on board to play Bob Newby, “a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.”

Paul Reiser (Aliens) is confirmed to appear as Dr. Owens, “a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year.”

Other new additions to the second season include Sadie Sink (The Americans) and Dark Montgomery (Power Rangers). Per Variety: “Sadie Sink will play Max, a tomboy with a complicated history and a suspicious streak. Dacre Montgomery will play Billy, Max’s older step-brother. Billy is a charismatic Camaro-driving drinker, a classic girlfriend-stealing bad boy.”

Much of the cast from the first season is returning. And after a period of uncertainly, it was recently confirmed that Millie Bobby Brown will also be reprising her role as Eleven.

As we recently reported, season two has officially commenced production. The official Stranger Things Twitter account posted a message saying: “back in production, see you next year, #strangerthingst“.

Netflix perviously revealed that the second season will pick up in the fall of 1984. A specific return date has not been announced but the previously released teaser does say that “the adventure continues in 2017”. Presumably it will again be a summer series. But we will let you know for sure as soon as we do. The teaser also let us know that there will be nine episodes in season two and it lists each one by name.

The Duffer Brothers recently told EW that the characters we grew to love in season one will be back. In fact, they never really considered going the anthology route as many expected they may. “I don’t think we ever thought anthology,” Ross Duffer told the site. “I think we talked like a larger time jump where the kids are older now and it’s a different decade. That’s something we batted around from the very beginning. But for us, there’s still more story here [in the 1980s], there’s still things that are unresolved.”

The brothers also told the outlet that there will be several new characters and that season two will see a return to The Upside Down. They also said that James Cameron will be an influence in the upcoming season.

The first season of the program revolves around the disappearance of a young boy. It follows the plight of the boy’s family and friends who dedicate their lives to finding him after he vanishes. What the boy’s friends and family soon discover is that there is much more to his disappearance than meets the eye. They learn that government agencies, and supernatural forces play a key role in the lad’s disappearance.
