It’s nice to get to post an announcement not announcing a remake, once in a while. Over the past few days, scuttlebutt has surfaced, suggesting that Morgan Creek had plans to sell off the remake rights to The Exorcist. Director William Friedkin chimed in, saying that he was under the impression that Morgan Creek only owned the rights to the film’s sequels but we didn’t have a definite answer from Morgan Creek until now.
To put the rumors to rest, Morgan Creek took to Twitter and quashed the rumblings for once and for all. You can see their official statement in the tweet below.
The Exorcist tells the tale of a young girl who begins exhibiting strange behavior and it only gets worse as the days pass. Her mother eventually calls in the church to try to determine if her daughter is possessed by a malevolent entity.
For the record, we will never attempt to remake THE EXORCIST
