Coming off an official release date announcement, we now have news that the Epix channel will be hosting the cable premiere of the reboot of The Town that Dreaded Sundown just in time for Halloween. Come inside for more details on the television premiere of the film.
The reboot of The Town that Dreaded Sundown is slated for a VOD release October 16th. But if you are an Epix subscriber and can wait two additional weeks, you can check the film out for free on Halloween. The cable channel is broadcasting the 1976 original at 8 PM on Halloween night and the reboot will follow at 930 PM.
Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (American Horror Story) directs this redux from a script penned by Robert Aguirre-Sacasa (Carrie 2013). Addison Timlin (Odd Thomas) plays the lead character. Timlin portrays a young woman who survives a massacre at an annual screening of the 1976 film The Town that Dreaded Sundown in the town of Texarkana.
The Town that Dreaded Sundown redux was shot in Louisiana (with location shots taken in Texarkana) over the course of six weeks. It is completed and is expected to see release this year. No official word on a specific release date but MGM has acquired the film for distribution and should be providing us with more details shortly.
