Word from Deadline reports that Hammer and eOne’s The Woman in Black: Angel of Death has been acquired by Relativity Media with a seven-figure deal for US distribution.
The sequel takes place in the same house, Eel Marsh, 40 years later when a group of children who are evacuated from London during World War II come to stay and awaken the house’s darkest inhabitants. Currently in post-production, The Woman in Black: Angel of Death is directed by Tom Harper and stars Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) and Helen McCroy (Harry Potter).
The hit 2012 haunted house original The Woman in Black starred Daniel Radcliffe and was distributed in the U.S. by CBS Films. It grossed $54 million domestically and $128 million worldwide.
Relativity Media also brought us Oculus earlier this year that I enjoyed personally, and while The Woman in Black didn’t set me alight, I have high hopes for the sequel. Check back for US release date information and updates soon.
