The follow up to the 2009 film Zombieland has long been talked about but until today, most horror fans had begun to doubt the likelihood of it ever coming to fruition. But with Deadline reporting that Sony Pictures is aggressively pursuing the project at long last, it looks like fans of the first film may have cause to rejoice.
It seems that Sony has secured Dave Callaham (Godzilla) to write the sequel and what’s more, Ruben Fleischer (director of the first film) will be back to helm the forthcoming sequel. It’s not yet known if any of the original cast will be returning for the second installment but stay tuned as we will will be back with more information about the second film as soon as it is released.
The first film takes place in a post-apocolyptic reality where almost all of the US has been turned into bloodthirsty zombies. A group of four survivors band together in an attempt to take on the undead and live another day. The group is comprised of a young man trying to return to his hometown to reunite with his family, a loner in search of the last Twinkie on earth, and two young ladies on their way to an amusement park.
