Seth Grahame-Smith, who has been tasked with the surely daunting task of penning the script for the long buzzed about Beetlejuice sequel has shared some news that we are really excited about. The screenwriter revealed that he is set on making a proper sequel, as opposed to a reboot. Grahame-Smith also noted that he plans to take a similar approach to the first film where the titular character didn’t appear until roughly halfway though the feature.
And as we previously reported, both Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are set to appear in the film. Geena Davis has even expressed interest in a cameo but she says that no one has approached her about appearing at this juncture.
This is a follow up effort that has suffered through development hell for years but it seems as though things are finally coming together, in addition to Keaton and Ryder, Tim Burton has also confirmed his involvement with the project.
The original film sees a pair of recently deceased ghosts trying to exorcise the new (living) inhabitants of their home by enlisting the services of a bio-exorcist.
