Exorcist Television Reboot Adds Two Actors from Netflix Original Series

Fox TV's The Exorcist

We have just learned that Fox has cast Alfonso Herrera (Netflix’s Sense8) and Ben Daniels (from the Netflix original House of Cards) in the upcoming small screen redux of William Peter Blatty’s The Exorcist.

According to Deadline, Herrera will play Father Tomas Ortega and Daniels will appear as Father Marcus Lang. Father Thomas is described by the site as the “warm, selfless and compassionate leader of a small but hearty little church”. While Father Marcus is said to be an “intense holy warrior carrying out an occupation that the church no longer acknowledges in public.”

The pair join previously announced cast members Hannah Kasulka and Brianne Howey. From what we’ve gathered, Brianne Howey will be playing the character that becomes possessed. The pilot was written by Jeremy Slater (The Lazarus Effect). Rupert Wyatt will be assuming directorial duties on the first episode. The show is being described as “a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession and confronting the face of true evil.”

No word at this point on when the show will commence principal photography or when we can expect it to make its debut on television. But stay tuned for more news on this small screen adaptation and all of the latest horror news as it is relayed to us!
