First Trailer for Flatliners Arrives and it’s Generic as Hell, With None of the Magic of the Original

Flatliners

The trailer for the Flatliners redux has arrived and it’s a major disappointment. It’s nothing like the 1990 original. The sense of foreboding is completely absent and the rawness that made the first film so terrifying is nowhere to be found.

The preview (check it out for yourself below) comes off like something you’d expect to see on the CW network. While it’s important for a remake to branch out from the original, it looks like this one is doing so in all the wrong ways.

Sony Pictures will be releasing the picture in theaters September 29, 2017. As we recently announced, Kiefer Sutherland, who starred in the original, will be making an appearance in the upcoming redux. He will appear alongside Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton, Kiersey Clemens, and Charlotte Mc Kinney.

Niels Arden Oplev (Mr. Robot) helmed the project with Ben Ripley (Source Code) assuming screenwriting duties.

Flatliners follows a group of medical students who conduct a series of experiments where they intentionally flatline for a short period of time, only to be resuscitated by their cohorts, moments later. But, predictably, things don’t go as planned and the aspiring physicians get more than they bargained for.
