Rumors have been swirling for the past month or so that a sequel to last year’s rather brilliant Halloween reboot is in the works. Precious little is known about who’s returning, who’s joining, or even what, er, shape this new Halloween II will take, but super producer Jason Blum hints the director might be a sure thing.
It was around this time last month that Blum first teased a sequel was on the way. He took to Twitter to post a photo of he and returning series star Jamie Lee Curtis with the teasing caption: “We’re discussing stuff.” Curtis also happens to be holding the latest Laurie Strode action figure in the shot, which makes a Halloween II discussion even more likely.
Scott Teems was tapped to write the sequel back in February, even though Blum conceded at the time that his company had yet to retain the requisite rights. The wunderkind producer did confirm at the time, however, that he would make 10 more Halloween movies if given the opportunity.
Now, we might just know who’s being courted to direct as Blum hinted on Twitter that David Gordon Green, who helmed Halloween 2018, will be returning. A fan asked on Twitter whether he’d be coming back for a sequel, to which Blum responded simply: “I hope so.”
Halloween 2018 is currently available on DVD, BD, and VOD, as well as streaming on HBO. Check out our review of the Blu-ray right here.
Green directed Halloween 2018 from a screenplay he co-wrote with Danny McBride. In addition to Curtis, the film starred Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, and Nick Castle.
