The trailer for Paul Feig’s highly-anticipated, upcoming all-female Ghostbusters finally dropped last week. And, as a result, the whole world seems to have gone a bit crazy.
A mysterious Ebay auction, for a super-rare, brand–new can of Hi-C Ecto-Cooler had everyone speculating about whether the popular, movie-themed drink was due for a long-awaited comeback.
Ecto-Cooler was originally envisioned as a product tie-in to the popular cartoon series The Real Ghostbusters, but its wild popularity outlived the show itself.
The product was discontinued as late as 2001, which means it’s been fifteen, long years since anybody has tasted the sweet, Slimer-endorsed nectar of the gods.
After the drink sold on eBay for a whopping $400, fans flocked to Feig’s Twitter to press him for answers. And rather than tease us any longer, he pretty much confirmed it is going to happen some time this year.
In fact, judging by the above, Feig reckons we’re going to get another taste of Ecto-Cooler prior to the movie’s July 15th release date.
This is especially good news for those of us who grew up with Slimer and rotting teeth. Details about Ghostbusters 2016 are sparse, but the all-female team comprises of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Chris Hemsworth is also slated to star.
