The prepackaged pastry-like item was used in the original Ghostbusters film by Dr. Egon Spengler to explain surging levels of psychokinetic energy, so this announcement is significant for a variety of reasons.

When Feig was initially approached by Sony to helm a third installment in the franchise, he was reticent to take on such a daunting task. But when he mulled over the idea, he decided that a reboot with an all female cast would alleviate a lot of his concerns about revisiting the world outlined in the first two films.
The redux will star Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon. The screenplay was penned by Katie Dippold and Paul Feig.
