We’re just weeks away from arguably the biggest horror release of the year, Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett’s hugely anticipated Blair Witch, a threequel to the original, seminal The Blair Witch Project.
Now, courtesy of German horror site ScaryMovies.De, we’ve got a brand new, super-spooky image to drool over (which you can check out for yourself below).
Judging by the pic, and the previously-released trailer, the featured group of intrepid adventurers may just stumble upon that house from the original movie.
The threequel is directed by long-time collaborators Wingard (directing) and Barrett (writing), who have previously gifted us massive genre hits You’re Next and The Guest. It stars Valorie Curry, Callie Hernandez, and James Allen McCune. Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Keith Calder, and Jessica Wu are all on board to produce.
The synopsis sounds pretty intriguing:
A group of college students venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James’ sister who many believe is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.
Stay tuned to Wicked Horror in the countdown to the film’s release, for more on this project as we learn it. And watch out for our review closer to the time!
