We wish to preface this story by noting that Anchor Bay and Don Coscarelli have yet to confirm this statement. However, Dave Hagan (of the Monster-Mania Convention) made the announcement (via the event’s Facebook Page) that Reggie Bannister would be unable to appear at the con due to the release of Phantasm: Ravager. Specifically, Hagan said, “Reggie Bannister has to postpone his appearance at MMCON35 due to the release of Phantasm 5 in LA the same weekend as our show.”
When a fan asked to clarify that Phantasm: Ravager would be releasing on the same weekend as the con, Hagan replied, “Yes the Phantasm 5 is coming out the same weekend as MMCON35.” If that proves accurate, that means Ravager will be releasing Friday September 30th.
Don Coscarelli previously indicated that the project would likely be poised for release some time in 2016 if everything works out as expected. So, here’s hoping Monster Mania’s intel is accurate.
Phantasm: Ravager is the eagerly-anticipated final installment in the Phantasm series. The project has long been surrounded by secrecy. It was filmed in its entirety before it was even announced. Ravager marks the fifth installment in the franchise and the first not directed by series creator Don Coscarelli. It, once again, pits Reggie against the mysterious Tall Man in an epic final showdown.
Phantasm: Ravager sees the return of all the original cast members: Angus Scrimm, Reggie Bannister, Michael Baldwin, and Michael Thornbury are all reprising their roles. The picture was helmed by David Hartman.
