Here’s the good news: Robert Englund will be playing Freddy Krueger one more time. The bad news: It won’t be in A Nightmare on Elm Street film. It will, however, be in an upcoming episode of the ABC sitcom, The Goldbergs. Below, you can check out a promo for the episode from the series’ official Twitter account.
Less than a year ago, Robert Englund told CinemaBlend that he was too old to play Freddy again, dashing any remaining hope that fans had of seeing the veteran character actor don the fedora and glove one last time.

So, while it’s probably a done deal that Englund won’t appear in another Nightmare film, fans can get their Freddy fix by tuning into the Halloween episode of The Goldbergs next month!
’80s throwback sitcom, The Goldbergs stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, Sean Giambrone, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, and Jeff Garlin. It is (loosely) based on the (young) life of series creator Adam F. Goldberg. It airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8PM.
