The newly released trailer for Goodnight Mommy is raising a lot of eyebrows and has even inspired a series of reaction videos via YouTube. Hell, it’s even resulted in a piece on BuzzFeed chronicling the various reactions from viewers. It’s definitely weird but is it really as controversial as people are making it out to be? Goodnight Mommy is the story of creepy, nine year old twin boys sitting alone in a giant house waiting for the return of their matriarch. When she eventually does return (bandaged and apparently having been given a new face) the entire dynamic of their home has changed. What’s more, the boys don’t even believe the woman living in their home is actually their mother.
No US release date has been announced at this juncture but we will update you as soon as we are aware of one.
The film stars Susanne Wuest, Elias Schwarz, and Lukas Schwarz. It is directed by Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz. The pair also penned the screenplay together.
