[If you like gore, revenge horror and are into a bit of torture, Watch.This.Film. But if you’re picky with storylines and acting, don’t.
My friend recommended Daddy’s Little Girl, directed by Chris Sun, as she knows of my love for torture (only in movies!). I sat and watched the film for a good 45 minutes wondering why she suggested it. I was getting bored watching the wooden and cringe worthy acting with a nothing-new story line with poor execution. Until the who-did-it comes into play.
Some, and I said SOME (I’ve seen many a torture film) of the physical pain that is in this movie I have never witnessed before, which is why I also recommended a couple of my friends watch it, just so we could discuss them afterwards.
If I was in the same position as Derek (Michael Thomson), the lead in the film, I would definitely do something similar to what he does; friend or foe. I could feel his need for retribution and understand his relentless nature because of the situation he found himself in.
Barring the second half of the film, which is worthy of a watch if you’re into some real hardcore torment, the characters are predictable and there will probably be many things you’ll notice and think “but why would you do that” and “why is that like that?”. I don’t need to list them, but if you just want to see some gore, fast forward about half an hour and you’ll still get the story and you might enjoy the film more. You’re either going to appreciate this flick or totally hate it.
I’ve seen worse movies and I’ve seen way better in terms of what this movie is about, but Daddy’s Little Girl feeds my dark side so I’ll let any other negatives about it slide. If you’re into torture movies like I am, you’ll definitely enjoy at least the second half of this film.
