Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is an upcoming science fiction film directed by Matt Reeves and starring Andy Serkis (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Lord of the Rings), Gary Oldman (Harry Potter, The Dark Knight), Jason Clarke (The Great Gatsby, Trust), Judy Greer (Carrie), and Keri Russell (Dark Skies). It is the sequel to the 2011 smash film Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
The sequel to the blockbuster takes place 15 years later when humanity’s existence is nearing extinction. A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors as Dreyfus (Oldman), leads a group of scientists who struggle to stay alive in the aftermath of a plague spreading through San Francisco. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Andy Serkis returns as Caesar, the apes’ leader who tries to maintain dominance as his community of apes grow in intelligence. And they ride horses, I mean come on!
The new installment brings a new director, Matt Reeves of Cloverfield replacing Rise of director, Rupert Wyatt.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will be coming out between the 9th July – 26th September 2014 around the world.
