New on Netflix: August 28th, 2015

New on Netflix

New on Netflix is a weekly feature here at Wicked Horror where we take a look at the latest additions to everyone’s favorite streaming service. It can be tough sifting through all those horror titles, not really knowing what’s worth watching and what isn’t. Sometimes, you know exactly what you’re looking for, but when you go to watch it the title has already been taken down. Here, we do our best to let you know what’s been added and re-added from week to week.

This week proves to be a little lacking in the horror department, so we apologize for that, but it only makes us that much more curious as to what kind of horror content September will bring. We’ll of course keep you updated when said films are revealed.

Either way, this month’s one and only pick is at least a good one. So sit back, relax, and let us walk you through what’s new on Netflix for the week of August 28th.

Byzantium

Byzantium is a stunning return to vampire cinema by Neil Jordan, who helmed the excellent Interview With the Vampire back in 1994 and also directed the underrated The Company of Wolves. Starring Saorise Ronan and Gemma Arterton, it brings class and style back to vampire movies. It’s refreshingly different at the same time, having more in common with Tony Scott’s The Hunger than Jordan’s Interview. It doesn’t shy away from the horror as some recent vampire flicks have done and also manages to bring the gore at the same time.
