In news I’m not to thrilled to be reporting, a new Scream film will be coming to a theater near you in the not so distant future. The project has been officially confirmed to be in development via Spyglass Pictures. The news of the production company attached comes from BD but the original news of a new entry in the series comes from We Got This Covered.
So far, we know that Ghostface will return. However, it is not clear at this point if it will be a new universe or a continuation of the four films helmed by the legendary Wes Craven.
It’s important to note that Blumhouse is not involved with the reboot. Early reports (inaccurately) suggested that the project was a partnership with Jason Blum’s house of horrors.

I love the Scream Movies as much as the next horror fan but am a little disappointed that another film is going into development without Wes Craven. And according to the BD article, Kevin Williamson isn’t attached to write. For me, Scream is Wes Craven (and to some extent, Kevin Williamson). The idea that the project will feature neither of them makes me feel like things are already off on the wrong foot. We’ll see what happens but thus far, I’m not impressed.
Wicked Horror will continue to keep you updated about this project as we learn more. So, stay tuned for more Scream news as well at the latest in all things horror!
