Wicked Horror has just learned that American Horror Story alumna Frances Conroy (pictured below) has signed on to Spike TV’s small screen redux of Stephen King’s The Mist. She is the first cast member to be announced. According to THR, “Conroy will portray Nathalie, a modern-day ecological martyr. While she is seemingly more connected to nature than most people, her instincts about her fellow humans are dead on.”
What we know thus far is that Adam Bernstein (Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad) has signed on to helm the pilot episode of the series. The show will be lensing this summer for a 2017 debut on the male-centric network. Spike TV bumped the original order for a pilot to a total of ten one-hour episodes. The project will be written and executive produced by Christian Torpe (Rita). No definitive word, just yet, on whether or not Torpe will be directing any episodes of the series for the network. The Mist is poised to be the Spike’s first scripted series in several years. Stay tuned for more on this currently in development project as we learn it!
Similar to the feature film, the series will follow the residents of a small town as they deal with a mist of unknown origin that initially seems harmless but soon proves to be quite deadly.
