Check Out The Final Trailer for 47 Metres Down: Uncaged

It wouldn’t be summer without a loopy creature feature to scare us out of the water. This year, that movie is probably Crawl, but bringing up the rear for the less scaly-inclined is highly-anticipated sequel to surprise hit 47 Metres Down, the ludicrously titled 47 Meters Down: Uncaged (is it the shark that’s being let out or the people…? Oh, never mind).

Sistine Rose Stallone, Corinne Foxx, Sophie Nélisse, and Brianne Tju star as four unlucky teenage girls who set off on a fun diving adventure that devolves into the fight of their lives as they square off against a hungry shark. Director Johannes Roberts, who also helmed sequel The Strangers: Prey At Night, returns for another bite of 47 Metres Down.

The synopsis is as follows:

Four teen girls diving in a ruined underwater city quickly find themselves in a watery hell as their fun outing turns into heart-stopping fear when they learn they are not alone in the submerged caves.  As they swim deeper into the claustrophobic labyrinth of caves they enter the territory of the deadliest shark species in the ocean.

The trailer — the final, showstopping one to sell us on this movie — is impressive and the shark itself doesn’t look terrible either, which is always a bonus. 47 Metres Down was shocking in its nastiness, particularly its take-no-prisoners ending, and it seems Uncaged has much of that same edge to it (that shot of a bloodied hand interrupting an otherwise scenic view of the ocean is great). If nothing else, it’ll be a fun, diverting little shark movie. And we can never have too many of those.

47 Metres Down: Uncaged hits theaters on August 16. Check out the trailer for yourself below.
