It’s been a couple months since we’ve learned anything new about Insidious: Chapter 4, the fourth installment in the hugely popular paranormal series. Last we heard, the movie would be directed by Adam Robitel (The Taking Of Deborah Logan) from a script by series stalwart Leigh Whannell. Co-creator James Wan is also set to produce again, alongside Oren Peli and Jason Blum. The announcement was made on the official Blumhouse site, which confirmed the project is slated for an October 10th, 2017 release date.
Whannell previously hinted that Insidious: Chapter 4 might take place in the time between the first film and the third, but this has yet to be confirmed. Lin Shaye is set to reprise her role as psychic Elise Rainer.
And we can now reveal that joining her will be Josh Stewart, who horror fans will know as Arkin from clever torture flick The Collector. Stewart also had small roles in the Christopher Nolan blockbusters The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar.
As we noted previously, the project is still a long way off. But the casting of a new genre fave like Stewart is something to get excited about, particularly if he gets to tussle with Shaye, the so-called ‘Godmother of horror’.
Stay tuned to Wicked Horror as more news breaks on the fourth chapter in the Insidious franchise.
