Filming Finally Commencing On The Strangers 2

The Strangers: prey at night Strangers 2

Back in November, we were wondering whether The Strangers 2, the long-gestating sequel to the massive, $82 million-grossing 2008 smash hit, was ever going to happen.

Now, Wicked Horror has learned that Bloom have taken international rights to The Strangers 2, with director Johannes Roberts (The Other Side Of The Door) tapped to helm.

It will delight fans of the original to learn, also, that director Bryan Bertino will be scripting this time around, alongside Ben Ketai (The Forest). The Fyzz Facility Pictures are set to produce.

Plot details are scarce at the moment, but we do know that The Strangers 2 follows a family whose road trip takes a turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park and, under the cover of darkness, three familiar masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test their every limit.

Casting is currently underway, with the US-based shoot scheduled for the summer.

Bloom’s Alex Walton said:

I am truly scared every time I think of the original The Strangers movie, it is my favorite horror film of the past 10 years.  The screenplay will immediately satisfy any fan of the original.

The Fyzz’s Mark Lane added:

The Strangers redefined the home invasion genre by perfectly combining character and terror in a way that we rarely see. This is a sequel that has been eagerly awaited and we are delighted to deliver it to the fans.

Roberts promised “a powerful sequel”. The planned follow-up to Bertino’s fan favourite flick has been in the works for almost five years, so anything could happen at this stage. But for now, things are looking up for the first time in what feels like forever.

Stay tuned to Wicked Horror in the coming months for more on this long-awaited sequel, as it is revealed! In the meantime, let us know your thoughts below!
