At long last, we have a trailer for the Ghostbusters reboot. Director Paul Feig’s fingerprints are all over it and as a huge fan of his films, that is absolutely a compliment. Judging by this trailer, the film is going to do exactly what a reboot should: pay tribute to the original but stand on its own. You can check out the newly debuted preview in the player below!
According to an earlier statement from Feig, the film will be much scarier than the original and its 1989 follow up effort.
Katie Dippold (The Heat) wrote the script for the reboot. And the film stars Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Chris Hemsworth.
Feig was initially approached by Sony to helm a third installment in the franchise but was reticent to take on such a daunting task. When he mulled over the idea, he decided that a reboot with an all female cast would alleviate a lot of his concerns about revisiting the world outlined in the first two films.
In the redux, four ghost hunters take on a gaggle of ghosts in New York City as restless spirits begin to return to the world of the living. The film will be in theaters July 15, 2016.
