Today brings a trailer debut for the third installment in The Purge franchise. The film’s official title will be The Purge: Election Year. You can check out the intense new trailer for the latest outing from Blumhouse and Universal for yourself in the player below.
James DeMonaco, who wrote and directed the first two films is penning the screenplay for the third and is also expected to direct the latest entry in the series. It stars Frank Grillo from the series’ second installment and Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost).
The films in The Purge franchise take place in a future where one night a year, all crime is legal. Anyone not lucky enough to be secured behind double reinforced steel doors with a state-of-the-art alarm system and bulletproof glass has the potential for a very bad night. In this latest installment, a senator running for President on the platform of ending The Purge is targeted.
