In the months since The Wrap made the announcement that Marcel Langenegger was on board to direct The Strangers 2, there has been no subsequent news about the much talked about second installment. In January, the site also broke the news that Ben Ketai (Chosen) would be having a go at the script.
The lull since the announcement could simply mean that everyone is hard at work and will have much to show for it in the coming months or it could be yet another in a long line of false starts for this oft discussed follow up. Only time will tell. But we have reached out to our contact at Relativity and will be updating you as soon as we learn anything more!
January 24th also brought the announcement that Roy Lee, Doug Davison, Nathan Kahane and Trevor Macy would all be returning to produce the sequel. And it was also confirmed that Sonny Mallhi, Marc Evans and Joe Drake would be taking on the role of executive producer. The project will reportedly be produced under the Vertigo and Good Universe banners.
The Wrap described the plot for the film as: “following a family on the verge of sending their troubled teenage daughter to boarding school as they embark on one last family trip to a mobile home park that their uncle runs. Their last bonding opportunity turns to horror when the teenage children discover the bodies of their aunt and uncle, fresh from a recent visit from the Strangers — Man in the Mask, Pin Up Girl and Dollface.”
Stay tuned to the site as we learn more about this currently ‘in development’ title.
