Eli Roth-Produced Clown Set For Theatrical Release

Poster for Eli Roth's Clown.

Highly-anticipated, Eli Roth-produced, body horror shocker Clown , (check out our review here), is finally set for a limited theatrical run, via the Weinstein Company/Dimension. It was falsely reported that the film would be going straight to VOD this month but we have now received word that the project will hit at least a handful of theatres this summer.

The flick, which follows loving father Kent (Andy Powers) as he falls victim to an ancient evil encased in a clown costume, is set to hit theatres in a limited capacity on June 17th.

The film comes to us ‘presented by’ Roth, which should give some indication of the kind of tone it seeks to strike. The fun comes with Kent being unable to remove the costume, and make-up, before he takes on an unthinkable curse.

Directed by Jon Watts, who also co-wrote the script with Christopher D. Ford, Clown came to horror maestro Roth’s attention after he spotted a YouTube trailer based on the idea. The movie also stars the legendary Peter Stormare, in suitably sinister form.

The Weinstein Company acquired Clown for a respectable $2M at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival.

Catch Clown in limited release beginning June 17th, 2016. In the meantime, stay tuned to the site for more on this and the latest in horror news as it is announced!
