Jake Busey Will Play The Son of His Father’s Predator 2 Character in The Predator

The Predator

Jake Busey sat down with The Red Booth to discuss his upcoming turn in Shane Black’s The Predator. During the conversation, the actor revealed that he will be playing the sone of his father’s Predator 2 character (Peter Keyes).

[Shane Black] called me and he said ‘Hey, you wanna do this movie? We don’t have money for you but it’ll be a fun thing to come play and be your father’s son.’ And so as much as I have followed in my Dad’s footsteps career-wise, this is like really following in his footsteps by playing a character who is the son of the character he played,” Busey told The Red Booth. “And I don’t think there would be any other forum where I would do that. I think this is the one thing.

He continued: “If you liked the very first movie a lot, you’ll really like this one. This one has a lot of essence of the first movie.

This latest development is most notable for the fact that original reports had suggested that the upcoming film would be a direct sequel to the first film, ignoring everything that came after. However, Busey’s remarks strongly suggest that this will be a sequel that follows the timeline of the first and second films.

Shane Black’s The Predator was recently bumped from its February 2018 slot all the way back to August 3, 2018.

In addition to Busey, the film‘s cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Keegan Michael Key, Alfie Allen, Edward James Olmos, Sterling K. Brown, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Thomas Jane, and Yvonne Strahovski.

Benicio del Toro was tapped to star at one point but was later replaced by Boyd Holbrook due to a scheduling conflict.

Shane Black told the folks at ComingSoon that the Predator will be getting some serious upgrades in terms of costume design, as well as abilities.

The Predator is a collaboration between writer Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad) and director Shane Black.
