The Predator Is Reportedly “So Crazy” And “Really Funny”

The Predator

Last we heard, Fox was pushing back Shane Black’s long-mooted monster sequel The Predator to summer of 2018 (the film was originally slated for a February release).

At the time, we suggested that, rather than being cause for concern, the decision to position the film for an August release may show that the studio has faith in the project.

And now, there may be even more cause for (quiet) celebration.

In a chat with Cinema Blend, star Edward James Olmos was super enthusiastic about the flick, promising “it’s gonna be funny” but “still intense”, in keeping with the franchise as a whole.

Olmos has “a good feeling” about The Predator in general, even though he hasn’t seen the finished product yet, describing it as “so crazy” and “really funny, and yet deadly like Predator is”.

The film’s cast includes Olmos, Boyd Holbrook, Keegan Michael Key, Alfie Allen, Sterling K. Brown, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Thomas Jane, Jake Busey, and Yvonne Strahovski.

Benicio del Toro was tapped to star at one point but was later replaced by Boyd Holbrook due to a scheduling conflict.

Shane Black recently told the folks at ComingSoon that the Predator will be getting some serious upgrades in terms of costume design, as well as abilities.

The Predator is a collaboration between writer Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad) and director Shane Black.

When the project was first announced, it was revealed that this would be a direct sequel to the first film, ignoring everything that came after it.

Stay tuned to the site in the coming months for more on this project as we learn it, as well as the latest in horror news.
