That Time Michael J. Fox Forgot He Was in The Frighteners

Michael J Fox in The Frighteners

Beloved actor Michael J. Fox hasn’t forayed into horror on that many occasions but his turn as Frank Bannister in The Frighteners was certainly a memorable one…at least for the moviegoing public. Apparently, it was less so for the film’s star. In the below behind-the-scenes featurette, Fox and director Peter Jackson recall multiple instances where he mistakenly called The Judge (John Astin) Doc (IE: Doc Brown from Back to the Future).

The video below features actual footage of Fox repeatedly calling John Astin Doc, instead of The Judge. It’s interesting that Christopher Lloyd’s Doc Brown was still on Fox’s mind, as the last Back to the Future film was released in 1990 and The Frighteners came out in 1996.

The Frighteners sees ghost hunter Frank Bannister conning people into paying for his services by creating hauntings through his ability to communicate with the deceased. But when a genuine threat pops up, Bannister must put his paranormal expertise to the test.
