Fans of Japanese horror director Takashi Shimizu (Ju-On: The Grudge 1 &2, The Grudge 1 & 2) will be pleased of his return to English language cinema with his upcoming haunted plane flick 7500.
Written by Craig Rosenberg (The Uninvited, The Quiet Ones), 7500 was set to release last August before CBS Films pushed the date back to May this year, with its first release in Vietnam on May 16th 2014.
7500 stars True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten, and Amy Smart (Crank, The Butterfly Effect), as Brad and Pia Martin, a married couple who board a flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo. During the journey the plane is hit by heavy turbulence and a passenger on board has a fatal heart attack. Rather than opt for an emergency landing the captain continues with the journey to Tokyo, and this is where things get weird. Suddenly a hotbed of supernatural activity it seems that the passengers aboard might not make it to their destination.
7500 also stars Leslie Bibb (Midnight Meat Train, Law Abiding Citizen), Jamie Chung (The Hangover Part 2 & 3)), Jerry Ferrara (Entourage, Lone Survivor), Christian Serratos (The Twilight Saga), Scout Taylor-Compton ( Halloween, An American Crime), Nicky Whelan (Halloween 2 2009) and rapper David Banner.
Not dampened by current reviews I’ve read, with Shimizu responsible for the benchmark in horror that was The Grudge franchise I have high hopes for 7500 and I will be taking that flight.
