As Above, So Below follows the exploits of a group of archeologists set on uncovering an ancient treasure in the catacombs beneath Paris. The explorers find more than they were looking for when they begin their journey. Demons from their past resurface and cause the members of the group to question their own sanity.
The upcoming ‘found footage’ film stars Ben Feldman (Friday the 13th 2009), Edwin Hodge (The Purge), and Perdita Weeks (Prowl). It is directed by John Erick Dowdle (The Poughkeepsie Tapes) with the script co-penned by John Eric Dowdle and Drew Dowdle.
The trailer looks promising. I’ve always found the catacombs beneath Paris fascinating. The fact that they house one of the largest mass burials in the world makes them an obvious setting for a horror film. The idea was previously explored less than successfully in the 2008 horror-thriller Catacombs. But hopefully As Above, So Below will do so with more success than the last film to tackle the subject. It will see release August 29, 2014.
