As we’ve mentioned previously, the new film will not be a remake. It will, however, ignore everything to come after the first. It’s something like a direct sequel that picks up 40 years later.
Danny McBride (Alien Covenant) is cowriting the film with David Gordon Green, who will be at the helm. And John Carpenter is on board to executive produce. The picture is slated to hit theaters on October 19th, 2018.
Blumhouse, Miramax, and Trancas International Films are partnering to produce the latest installment in the series.
Prior to losing the rights to the franchise, Dimension was in development on a new Halloween film with Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Halloween 3D was reportedly set to pick up after the events of the second film and would not tie in to Rob Zombie’s reboots.
