Following the announcement that World War Z 2 had been delayed indefinitely, we have some good news. Variety is reporting that the project is targeting an early 2018 production start date and has also revealed that David Fincher is in negotiations to helm.
The project was (at one point) slated for release on October 13, 2017. Several targeted release dates had come and gone before that.
Juan Antonio Bayona was initially set to helm the project but was then tapped to direct the follow up to Jurassic World, instead.
Last we heard, Steven Knight (Eastern Promises) had been called upon to script the film. Plot details are scarce at this point, other than that the film will take place in the midst of a zombie outbreak and Pitt will reprise his role as Gerry Lane.
