The Last House On The Left is a Well Done Horror Remake

The remake of The Last House on the Left.

The Last House On The Left (2009); Another remake done very well I think.

If you’ve seen the original Directed by Wes Craven you know what you’re going to get with the remake, directed by Dennis Iliadis. Though there are a few scenes missed out this time around and it’s gone softer in a sense,  it doesn’t take anything away from the quality of the remake. It’s less sleazy in a way but still gritty and more realistic and I didn’t clock watch once through the film as I’ve done with many other horror films.

It has a good plot, great pace and nice suspense. There’s one scene that is quite hard to watch for most, but the film is well done with good characters and great acting (starring Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul). I also felt empathy with the characters at some points, which for my cold self in any film is hard to do.

The revenge is triumphant in the sense that the scum deserved what happened and it shows that if you push some moral people over the edge they won’t just take it lying down (no pun intended). What goes around comes around.

I would’ve personally punished the guy at the end more as he deserved it the most, but I still liked the ending. The Last House on the Left is a great horror thriller to have in your collection, even if thrillers aren’t your thing. This is a powerful drama to get your teeth stuck into.
