Horror Characters That Should Have Their Own Film

Annabelle isn’t the only horror character who deserves a spin-off! There are plenty of noteworthy and interesting side characters and even background characters from our favorite horror films that never seem to get the love and adoration they so richly deserve. In light of that, we’ve put together a list of our top picks for horror characters that should have their own movie. Head inside to see our selections and don’t forget to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

The Naked Lady from The Shining
Ever since I first saw The Shining, I’ve wondered what exactly happened in room 237! Seriously! Why was the naked lady naked? How did she die? Perhaps she had a secret lover who murdered her. Whatever it may be, I think that her backstory could make for a great spinoff opportunity! While that ship has probably sailed, it would still be nice to see.

Dr. Loomis from the Halloween Franchise.
Although Rob Zombie tried to develop Dr. Loomis, there is still a lot that we don’t know. Did he have a life  before his obsession with Michael Myers? I don’t know how well this kind of film would do with non-horror fans. However, I think it would be awesome to see a film that was told from Dr. Loomis’ point of view.

Dennis from Cabin Fever
Seriously, what is up with Dennis? What is the point of having him in the movie?  Why can’t anyone sit next to Dennis? Why did he enjoy pancakes so much? Why the dry wig? Why not moisturize it? Whelp, let’s find out when he gets his own film!

Jame “Buffalo Bill’ Gumb from The Silence of the Lambs
Can you imagine watching the traumatic life of Buffalo Bill? What if we could see where it actually began? His alcoholic mother misspells his name “James” on his birth certificate, causing pure and utter ridicule toward him. The charter goes from foster home to foster home between age two and age ten. He is eventually adopted by his grandparents, who become his first victims. It would be great to see all of that explored in detail. I can only imagine how the graphic scenes when he murders his lover Benjamin Raspail would play out in an origin story.

The Frog Brothers from The Lost Boys
The original film is known to be a cult classic, so how could a film about The Frog Brothers possibly live up to the first one and not turn out like the two terrible sequels? Two brothers who dedicate their lives to hunting vampires in the Santa Carla, California area sounds very entertaining. Plus, how many years has it been since you’ve seen an amazing vampire film? I’ll wait.

The Judge, Stuart, and Cyrus from The Frighteners
Frank’s three deceased friends conspire to help his ghost-hunting business! The Judge is a decaying gunslinger from the Old Wild West who has a thing for mummies and firing his guns. Stuart is a snotty nose nerd from the ’60s. Cyrus is a gangster with a 70’s afro! It would be a lot of fun to see them take center stage in their own film.

Selwyn – The Zombie Baby – from Dead Alive
The film could begin with how Selwyn was born; due to Lionel’s nosey mother getting bitten by a Sumatran rat-monkey! From then, viewers could witness the intense attraction his parents had for each other that ultimately resulted in the conception of Selwyn! Then, we would watch him grow from a lumpy headed zombie baby with enlarged raisin like eyeballs and horrendous teeth to a lumpy headed zombie adult.

Sandra – The Masturbating Woman – from The Sentinel
This was a tough one because Charles’ cat Jezebel is quite awesome. However, Alison’s neighbor Sandra is more mysterious, interesting and a complete creeper. I mean, Sandra blatantly masturbated in front of Alison while she was sipping coffee. Sandra’s eyeballs rolled in back of her head and then she had no shame whatsoever as she sniffed her fingers. Sure, I may seem perverted, but I can’t be the only one whose curious about creepy, finger sniffin’ Sandra! [Editor’s Note: I would watch this film.]

Tallahassee from Zombieland
Who doesn’t want to see a film about a badass character who hates zombies and kills them in the most violent ways imaginable? Tallahassee is a man who knows how to enjoy the little things in life. And if you don’t blow off steam while living among zombies, you could possibly lose whatever is left of your sanity. Plus, he enjoys Twinkies…a horror film with Twinkies is an awesome one! “Time to nut up or shut up!”
