New on Netflix: December 11th, 2015

New on Netflix

New on Netflix is a weekly feature here at Wicked Horror where we take a look at the latest additions to everyone’s favorite streaming service. It can be tough sifting through all those horror titles, not really knowing what’s worth watching and what isn’t. Sometimes, you know exactly what you’re looking for, but when you go to watch it the title has already been taken down. Here, we do our best to let you know what’s been added and re-added from week to week.

As always, the beginning of the month hit us with a lot of strong material, with some current favorites and old classics alike. We’re headed into a bit of a lull as you can see, but hopefully things will pick up throughout the month as we draw closer toward Christmas and New Year’s.

So kick back, relax, make some popcorn or maybe even munch on some candy corn as we bring you what’s new on Netflix for the week of December 11th.

Vampire Academy

It’s not necessarily a great movie. Let’s be honest, it’s not even a good movie but if you’re in the mood for pure cheesy teen vampire fare and My Best Friend is a Vampire isn’t available to stream, then Vampire Academy might be your best bet. Based on the book by Richelle Mead, from Mean Girls director Mark Waters, it’s pretty much about what the title describes. This one went largely unseen, only making back half of its meager $30 million budget in theaters. It was pretty savagely treated by both critics and fans. Were the reviews just? Is the movie worth watching just to see how bad it is? Or did they miss something, and is it actually an underrated high school gem worth another shot? Either way, you might as well find out, because it’s the only thing coming this week.
