Gina Phillips recently sat down for a chat with Diabolique and offered up some intriguing details about Jeepers Creepers 3 and even went so far as to reveal that a Jeepers Creepers 4 is in the works.
Phillips helped clear up some of the lingering confusion regarding the script for Cathedral and the screenplay that actually went before cameras. From the sound of it, elements from Cathedral may be present in the already-planned fourth installment. Phillips also confirmed what we had heard previously, that her role in the third film will be more of a cameo.
“This is actually not my movie,” Phillips told the outlet. “It doesn’t have a lot to do with Trish. What I do is kinda… I haven’t been told specifically except don’t say much… [Pauses]… I am in it in order to launch what happens next.”
“The plan is for this stuff to go to screen in the next Jeepers Creepers movie,” Phillips continued. “Victor has written what happens from the second after the conclusion of Jeepers Creepers 3. I think that’s all I’m allowed to say about it but he wrote in such detail and he had a lot of flashbacks to what happened over the years that it made it very easy for me. I got to see what will eventually happen to the character and he put enough flashbacks in there that I got to see what happened to her over the last 15 years. Let’s just say, there’s more to come.”
Phillips went on to reveal that her character will be a mother (something that featured prominently in the script for Cathedral). “She’s a mother; she’s been through a lot. I haven’t gone through anything like what this character has been through – and I’m knocking on wood as I say this because I’m pretty superstitious – but I am a mom now and I understand that journey of, once you become a parent, you would do anything for that child as far as beg, borrow, steal, kill or die for your child. It was easy to put myself in that place because it parallels my life.
What we know about the third installment in the series so far is that Victor Salva, once again, wrote and directed. Actor Jonathan Breck returns as The Creeper. Meg Foster (They Live), Chester Rushing (Stranger Things), Ryan Moore (Pitchfork), Patrick Thomas Cragin (How to Be a Vampire), and Brandon Smith (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) are all on board to star.
The sequel (which is now in postproduction) lensed in Louisiana. No release date has been announced.
The two previous films collectively grossed over $120 million at the global box office. Stay tuned for more on this title as it is announced!
