In the growing trend of building a cinematic universe (or in this case, a televised universe), Marvel has announced that the ever popular Punisher character will be popping up in season two of the Netflix series Daredevil. The show already has a dark and gritty tone, so Frank Castle should fit right in. Moreover, both characters hail from New York, so the integration isn’t that big of a stretch.
Marvel recently announced that Jon Bernthal (Wolf of Wall Street) will be playing Castle in the second season of the Netflix series.
Daredevil is one of the best shows on television right now and the writing, cinematography, performances, an direction are all spot on. I am anxiously anticipating the second season and think that the addition of Frank Castle could prove to be a smart decision.
The Daredevil television series tells the origin story of attorney Matt Murdock, who becomes fed up with crime in Hell’s Kitchen and takes to vigilante justice to make a difference. The first season spends most of its time establishing the character’s back story and chronicles the process of him going from average citizen to superhero. The series was created by Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) and airs via Netflix instant. It stars Charlie Cox, Elden Henson, and Deborah Ann Woll.
